Vršič Pass (1611 m)

To get to the destination of our little road trip we had to pass the Vršič (1611 m) mountain pass that is the highest road pass in Slovenia and in the Eastern Julian Alps. The high mountain road goes from Kranjska Gora through Vršič to Log in Trenta. The road has 50 serpentines, 24 on the Kranjska Gora side and 26 on the Trenta side and offers amazing views from the heart of Julian Alps.

We started on the Kranjska Gora side (where we stopped on the beautiful alpine lake Jasna), heading to the Primorska region. Although the road is very winding, Bongo handled it real well. The views on the mountain road are spectacular, it is really worth it to drive trough the pass.

On the other side, the views are not all, the best thing about the Vršič Pass is when you finally reach the bottom in Trenta... and see the most beautiful river in the world, the Soča river! We had a little stop so Bongo could cool down a little, then we headed back on the road, to our beloved destination. More about the trip in the next few days!

Finally at the bottom of the Vršič Pass
